About Tammy Gingerella

Curiosity led me to Iyengar yoga. The benefits keep me on the path.

  • My first teacher introduced me to Iyengar yoga. I was initially attracted to the use of props and pose modifications, but soon learned that my yoga practice provided me with a method to lower stress and manage life's difficulties.

  • I have personally utilized yoga sequencing to alleviate low back pain, reduce anxiety, cope with symptoms of menopause and recover from cancer treatment.

  • I completed teacher training with Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers at UC Riverside Extension and throughout Southern California. I received my Introductory (Now Level 1) Certificate in 2009.

  • Continued study with teachers trained in Iyengar Yoga Therapeutics has benefited me personally and enables me to better serve students with physical conditions and changes due to aging.

Yoga and Cancer

Iyengar Yoga helped me during and after cancer treatment.

I utilized Iyengar yoga modifications and sequences during two episodes of cancer treatment. With guidance from teachers trained in Iyengar yoga therapeutics, I modified my asana practice to manage the effects of treatment, cope with the process and regain strength.
